Despite an inconsistent offense and without starting tailback Christian Romines, West managed to pull out a 13-9 win over region rival Halls Friday night at Bill Wilson Field.

The defense of the Rebels (3-0, 1-0) came through in a big way against Halls (2-1, 0-1), stuffing the Red Devils four times inside the 20, including a fourth-down play at the Rebels 4-yard-line with less than two minutes to go in the game. Jimmy McNair and Jaden Montgomery both had interceptions for West.

West struggled on offense against Halls, never really finding a rhythm. Quarterback Drake Peer was 6-of-16 for 66 yards and a touchdown, while tailback Jason Eskridge had eight carries for 39 yards. Romines suffered an ankle injury in last week’s win over Sevier County, and was unable to play against the Red Devils.

The Rebels only touchdown came on a an 11-yard pass from Peer to Deeric King. Logan Bowers had field goals of 20 and 26 yards.
