Wide Receiver Jermaine “Boom” Buchannon scored two 4th-quarter touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air, to lead the West Rebels to a 17-10 comeback win over Hardin Valley in the 2016 season opener.

Buchannon scored his first touchdown on an 8-yard run with 8:55 to go in the final stanza, and his other score came on a 55-yard toss from quarterback Drake Peer with 7:00 minutes to go.

West fell behind early to the Hawks. Hardin Valley scored on a 4-yard run by Aaron Dykes in the first quarter, and added a 28 yard field goal by Andrew Foster in the second.

Placekicker Logan Bowers nailed a 29-yard field goal just before halftime to cut the Hawks lead to seven.

The win was the 100th of Rebels coach Jeff Harig’s career.
